Viewers who tuned in to WLXC-FM, Kiss 103.1, at 10 a.m. today to hear the familiar voice of Tre Tailor didn’t get what they expected.

Tailor wasn’t there - and when reached Monday morning, she confirmed she had been laid off. “I was shocked,” she said.

Tailor has been removed from Kiss’ Web site. Doug Williams, the afternoon drive-time DJ, is now listed as the 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. host for the station, which is owned by Citadel Broadcasting. Citadel owns 165 FM stations and 58 AM stations throughout the country. Its other properties in the Columbia market are WTCB-FM, WOMG-FM, WNKT-FM and WISW-AM.

WLXC was No. 8 among 24 stations in the Columbia market in the summer 2008 Arbitron ratings, the latest available.

Tailor is the second popular midday host to lose a job recently at an urban station here. In November, Mike Love was let go by WWDM-FM, The Big DM 101.3. Love also was the program director for the top-rated station in the market, which is owned by Inner City Broadcasting.
