Off-duty deputy dies in traffic accident

SUMTER COUNTY

An off-duty Sumter County sheriff’s deputy was killed in a car accident early Monday morning.

Carl Wesley Pringle, 36, of Sumter, was killed when his car hit a culvert and overturned on Cains Mill Road in Sumter County at about 2:45 a.m. Monday, S.C. Highway Patrol reports indicate.

Pringle was driving his personal vehicle at the time of the accident.
