Nates Road, 7500 block: A woman called police at 2:45 p.m. Friday and said her cousin was harassing her by phone. The woman told deputies she had let her cousin have a cell phone account in her name but recently had to turn it off, which enraged the cousin. She said that since she turned the cell phone off, the cousin has called her incessantly to threaten her. The cousin swears at her, calls her derogatory names and makes threats, the woman said.

WEST COLUMBIA POLICE

Sunset Boulevard, 1500 block: Police were called to a scene at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after a man reported he had almost been hit while illegally riding his bicycle in the center lane of the street. The 62-year-old man said a woman barely missed him while looking elsewhere in her vehicle while driving. The 46-year-old woman told officers she had dropped her cell phone and was trying to find it, and when she looked at the road again, she saw the cyclist and quickly swerved to miss him. The man on the bike said he had to fall off the bike to avoid being hit. He admitted knowing he wasn’t supposed to be in the center lane but said he always figured it was the safest place.
