Defensive end Chaz Sutton (6-foot-4, 230) of Savannah committed to Florida in July and remained firm with his pledge until getting a call from the Gators the Monday after his official visit.
I guess they felt like I wasnt going to make it (academically), and they were going to sign me and put me in Hargrave (Prep in Virginia), Sutton said. Then they decided they werent going to sign me. They went back on their word, and I didnt like that.
Now that Sutton is back on the market, USC and Clemson have moved in.
Sutton said he might take a visit to Clemson on Wednesday, and he will make an official visit to USC this weekend.
He said its not out of the question he could qualify.
Ive still got some tests to take and some grades to pan out, he said. Im doing pretty good right now.
Coaches meet with Lucas. New USC defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson and assistant coach Shane Beamer met Monday with linebacker Sterling Lucas (6-2, 220) of Orangeburg-Wilkinson.
Lucas made his official visit to USC over the weekend. He also is considering North Carolina and N.C. State and will have a decision by Wednesday, according to his coach, Reggie Kennedy.
Brown to decide by Thursday. Wide receiver Jaron Brown (6-3, 190) of Cheraw said he planned to have a decision by Thursday after meeting with his recruiters earlier in the week.
Clemson and Michigan are visiting him today, and USC is visiting Wednesday.
When asked which school afforded the opportunity for the earliest playing time, Brown said USC.
Quinn receiving visitors. Linebacker Robert Quinn (6-6, 255) of Fort Dorchester this week will see recruiters from all four of the schools pursuing him.
I know Alabama, Auburn, North Carolina and South Carolina are coming in, Quinn said.
Quinn said he talked recently with USC recruiter Shane Beamer after the hiring of new defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson.
Quinn said he does not have a favorite and there is not a lot of difference among the schools.
Streeter to decide on Sunday. Wide receiver Tommy Streeter (6-5, 200) of Miami has visited USC, Boston College and Oregon and will visit Miami this weekend. His father said his son will have a decision on Sunday.
USC coach Steve Spurrier is scheduled for his in-home visit with the Streeters today.
