Tigers sophomore pitcher to transfer

Clemson has lost its fourth baseball player to transfer.

Matt Zoltak, a sophomore pitcher from Pennsylvania, has left the program in search of more playing time.

Zoltak, a strong-armed left-hander, appeared in 20 games, going 4-0 with a 6.30 ERA.

In other team news, all signs point to Clemson shortstop Stan Widmann returning for his final season of eligibility, although no concrete decision has been made. Widmann, a redshirt junior, went undrafted and would have considered signing a free-agent deal, but his options appear limited. .

Also, departed sophomore outfielder Alex Lee (Blythewood High) has narrowed his transfer choices to College of Charleston and Francis Marion. Lee would have to sit out a year if he opts for Charleston.

Another transfer, second baseman J.D. Burgess, is considering USC Aiken and North Georgia.
