Clemson sophomore linebacker
DeAndre McDaniel will be allowed
to play as long as he meets the
terms of a pretrial intervention
program set forth by the 13th
Circuit Solicitors Office, the school
announced Friday.
McDaniel was placed on what
the school termed deferred
suspension, which was recommended
by coach Tommy Bowden
and approved by both athletics
director Terry Don Phillips and
university president James Barker.
McDaniel is expected to share
snaps at strong-side linebacker in
tonights game against Alabama
with starter Scotty Cooper.
He was charged in June with
assault and battery of a high and
aggravated nature after an altercation
with his then-girlfriend at
his apartment.

The university and athletic
department have carefully considered
all the information available
through the student judiciary
process and in consultation with
the Solicitors Office to arrive at
this decision, Barker said in a
prepared statement. I am confident
we have taken all the appropriate
measures, and I support this
decision.
The alleged victim, 19-year-old
Abra Weeks, did not give her side
of the story in front of the student
judiciary board, which could have
then been used as testimony in a
jury trial. Weeks signed off on
allowing McDaniel to enter PTI to
resolve the matter.
Traffic update. Due to major lane
closures scheduled on the Downtown
I-75/I-85 Connector in
Atlanta, fans are encouraged to
take MARTA to tonights game.
Motorists traveling into the city are
strongly urged to park at an
outlying MARTA station and ride
the train into downtown to avoid
the construction zone. For $1.75
each way, customers can take the
East/West rail line to the
Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN
Center Station (W1) and walk
directly into the Georgia Dome
and to Centennial Olympic Park.
Customers taking the North/South
rail line will need to transfer to the
West Line at the Five Points rail
station and travel one stop to the
Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN
Center Station.
