Top 25: No USC or Clemson

South Carolina's stay in the top 25 lasted one week after Thursday's 24-17 loss to Vanderbilt.

The Gamecocks mustered 2 points in The Associated Press college football poll after being ranked No. 24 last week.

Clemson, which defeated The Citadel on Saturday, remained outside the top 25 with 73 points.

Southern Cal remained tops in the poll. Georgia is second with 23 first-place votes. Oklahoma is third, followed by Florida. Ohio State fell from third to fifth in the poll after its sluggish 26-14 win over Ohio.

East Carolina is in the poll for the first time in nine years. The Pirates come in at No. 14 after beating previously eighth-ranked West Virginia 24-3 yesterday. The Mountaineers have dropped all the way to No. 25.
