Meet Me at the Rocket

October 8, 2008

You’d be hard-pressed to find any kid more excited than me when the gates open to the S.C. State Fair at 3 p.m. today.

Even as a youngster growing up, I could barely contain myself as the trucks started to pull in each year for the Clarendon County Fair. That excitement hasn't waned over the years.

And what’s not to like? For 12 days families and friends pour into the gates at the fair where they help themselves to “calorie free” food, choose from a variety of wild and tame rides and stroll through the cattle barn to see the cows or the Ellison Building for a glimpse of the sand sculpture. Did I mention the food?

In any case, I’ll be heading over to the fair everyday (tough life, huh?), and I’d love for you to join me. Each day I’ll be exploring one of the many aspects that has made the fair a personal passion of mine for so many years. And I’d love to share your stories as well. So join me at the rocket, and take a spin with us each day. See you around.

Today's fair question of the day: What is your favorite fair memory?
