USC is adding 1,000 permanent seats to its new baseball stadium, increasing the seating capacity to 6,500.

USC athletics director Eric Hyman said it would be cheaper and easier to do it now. Hyman estimated the additional cost of the seats would be $130,000.

USC had planned to use temporary bleachers in the areas where the new 1,000 seats will go.

The total capacity for the new baseball stadium, including standing room and seating on grass berms, increases to 9,000.

In another announcement, USC said its opening game against Duquesne is being pushed back a day, from Friday, Feb. 20, to Saturday, Feb. 21.

USC officials said the change in opening dates makes it easier for fans to attend the first game.

USC officials also said there will be 750 permanent parking spaces around stadium, which will be paid parking only.

There will be a shuttle from the Colonial Life Arena parking lots to the stadium. Hyman said that if a fee is charged for the shuttle service, it will end up being "minimal."
