High school football playoff pairings set

Football playoff pairings for Classes 1A, 2A and 3A were officially set Saturday by the S.C. High School League.

Class 4A teams finish out their regular season next week.

Six Midlands teams from Class 3A are in postseason play, with two hosting first-round games. Crestwood hosts North Myrtle Beach, while Airport plays at home against Battery Creek. Lugoff-Elgin travels to J.L. Mann; Lower Richland will head to Greenville; Camden plays at Georgetown; and Brookland-Cayce will play at North Charleston.

Five Midlands teams in Class 2A are gearing up for the playoffs, with Mid-Carolina and Keenan matching up in Columbia in the first round. Batesburg-Leesville will host Andrew Jackson. Columbia travels to Strom Thurmond, while Gilbert plays at Central.

The SCISA Class 3A brackets were also released on Saturday. Hammond, Ben Lippen, Heathwood Hall and Wilson Hall are the Midlands rerpresentatives in the running. Hammond is shooting for its third consecutive championship. Ben Lippen travels to Orangeburg Prep for the second week in a row. The Falcons dropped a 30-28 decision to the host Indians on Friday in the regular season finale.
