Richland kidnapping suspect captured

Published: June 14, 2009

A woman wanted for tying up an elderly Richland County couple, robbing them at knifepoint and stealing their car has been arrested in Pennsylvania, Sheriff Leon Lott announced today.

Jenine Obert-Pozzi, 30, was arrested last week by police in Marple Township, Penn. They also seized the Toyota she is alleged to have stolen from the couple.

Lott said Obert-Pozzi faces charges for financial theft and fraud in Marple. After those charges are taken care of, she will be extradited back to South Carolina.

Here, she faces charges of first-degree burglary, armed robbery, grand larceny of a motor vehicle and kidnapping.

The couple knew Obert-Pozzi and invited her into their house. After she tied them up, she took money, jewelry and an antique pocket watch, detectives said.
