Clemson turned itself in for four secondary violations from February through August, including apparent violations involving two-sport quarterback Kyle Parker and former basketball player Terrence Oglesby.
Players names were not including in the information released by the university Friday, but the dates and actions correspond with well-publicized events at the time.
One athlete, presumably Parker, was cited for playing 1.5 hours longer than NCAA rules allow on April 11 the Saturday he famously starred in the spring football scrimmage, then hit a homer in each of the doubleheader baseball games against Miami.
A staff member was ruled to have misinterpreted the countable daily hours, and the athlete was withheld from three hours of athletics activity as punishment.
Another Clemson athlete no longer enrolled was cited for misconduct during an NCAA Championship event in March. Oglesby was ejected from Clemsons NCAA tournament opening-round loss March 19 for throwing an intentional elbow high and to the face of a Michigan player.
Oglesby left the program two months later with the intent of playing professional overseas, although he has yet to sign with a club. He received a public reprimand, though, and would have been suspended for the first-round contest if Clemson makes the NCAA tourney next season.
The two other secondary violations included this weeks Girdle Gate in which the football program was cited for improper practice attire, and an athlete was deemed to have received improper promotional items from two staff members in June. -- Paul Strelow
