Then "Hymns Alive: Our Heritage, Our Future" is a performance that could stir your heart.
The S.C. Baptist Singing Churchmen will present the 7 p.m. program Monday at First Baptist Church's main auditorium.

The free event coincides with the release of a new Baptist hymnal by the Southern Baptist Convention's LifeWay Christian Resources.
An offering will be taken to support music mission endeavors of the Singing Churchmen and missionaries in the field. The Singing Churchmen, under the direction of Mark Powers, director of the worship and music office of the S.C. Baptist Convention, celebrated its 50th anniversary this year.
In addition to the Singing Churchmen, SeraphSong, the S.C. Baptist women's choir for female church musicians, local church choir members and those in attendance will join in the singing. SeraphSong is under the direction of Adair Rogers of Laurens.
The program will also include congregational singing of great hymns of the faith, including both old and new songs.
Local church choir members also are invited to join SeraphSong and the Singing Churchmen for two hymn anthems. Those interested can call Powers or Janet Altman at (803) 765-0030 or e-mail janetaltman@scbaptist.org. Music and demo CDs will be mailed to participants.
First Baptist is at 1306 Hampton St. Reserved seating is available for special-needs groups and assisted-living residents. To make arrangements for advance seating, call (803) 765-0030. Wheelchair seating and accessibility is available but limited.
