MORE THINK OBAMA IS DOING A BAD JOB
President Barack Obama's job approval rating is constant in the South - about 48 percent when compared to a May survey. But the president's negatives have risen. Forty-two percent of Southerners disapprove of the way Obama is handling his job. In May, 37 percent of Southerners disapproved of Obama's job performance.
MICHELLE OBAMA IS MORE POPULAR

First lady Michelle Obama's popularity is growing in the South. Most Southerners - 53 percent - have a favorable view of Michelle Obama. That is up from a May poll, where 46 percent of Southerners viewed the first lady favorably.
GOOD SPEAKER, WARM GUY
Obama, who developed a reputation as a moving speaker on the campaign trail, is considered a good communicator by 84 percent of Southerners. More than 3 in 4 Southerners consider the president "warm and friendly," and a majority - 54 percent - consider Obama trustworthy. A partisan divide exists among those views. About two-thirds of Republicans say Obama is not trustworthy. Less than 10 percent of Democrats agree.
AN UNDESERVING WINNER
Next month, Obama will head to Oslo, Norway, to pick up a Nobel Prize for peace that almost 55 percent of Southerners polled said he did not deserve to win. Eighty-three percent of Republicans, 62 percent of Independents and 26 percent of Democrats said Obama did not deserve to win.
DOES THE PRESIDENT CARE ABOUT ME?
Sixty-one percent of Southerners said the president "cares about people like me," but a majority of Republicans - 53 percent - think Obama does not "care about people like me." During the campaign for president, political observers noted Obama did poorest among white males and concluded the president doesn't naturally connect with them. But in this survey, a majority of white males - 51 percent - said Obama cared about them.
