SEC Notes: Tme to sort bowl trips

This is a big week in the bowl pecking order for the SEC, especially in terms of the middle of the pack.
South Carolina does not benefit by playing top-ranked Florida. The Gamecocks (6-4, 3-4) need a win to avoid a losing league record. Of course , that wouldn't matter to bowls as much as how many fans the school would bring.
The Gamecocks didn't travel as well last season to the Outback Bowl. A victory against Clemson would cure that, of course. But, hey, that's talk for another week.
Auburn (7-3, 3-3) and Georgia (5-4, 3-3) are battling for bowl seeding. As are Tennessee (5-4, 2-3) and Ole Miss (6-3, 2-3). It's almost like a tournament format for bowls such as the Outback, Chick-fil-A and Cotton.

Julio Jones
He kept a great attitude even when he wasn't getting the ball (hear that, Weslye Saunders?). And patience paid off for Jones, who caught the game-shifting TD against LSU. The win gets the Tide in the SEC title game.
Ryan Mallett
He hasn't been a disappointment in his first season at Arkansas. With a 23-for-27, 329-yard day against the Gamecocks, he might be nearing a nod for
first-team All-SEC honors. Looks like Steve Spurrier had the wrong
Western Division QB in the summer.
Charlie Strong
His defense has allowed a touchdown or less eight times during the school's 19-game win streak. He's got a lot of talent on the field. Then again, do the Gators ever miss on talent? Maybe development is factored in, huh?

Homecoming opponents
You can do better than scheduling Northern Arizona. Or Tennessee Tech. Or Eastern Kentucky. Well, at least Kentucky kept the money in-state. That's a good lesson, too. Follow South Carolina's lead on supporting FCS programs in your state.
Gamecocks' mouths
Everyone agrees that the team's attitude, overall, is better this year. But
a couple of mouths need to be clamped shut. The Gamecocks don't need your
help unraveling in November. They've got enough work as it is holding things
together.
Vanderbilt
Bobby Johnson's such a nice guy it's tough to pile on. But it's disappointing to watch the Commodores regress a year
removed from such a history-making season. That offense isn't keeping
Vandy in games like you're used to seeing.

55 - Number of Tennessee Tech yards in Georgia's shutout. Read those
words again, "Georgia shutout." Seriously. It happened.
19 - Florida's win streak. Wouldn't it be ironic if it came to an end against the Ball Coach. Is that ironic? Or coincidental? Or both?
