CLASS 4A, DIVISION I
Gaffney 35, Summerville 28
Summerville jumped to a 21-0 lead in the second quarter, but the Indians stormed back with three touchdowns in the third quarter to win the Class 4A Division I state quarterfinal game in front of approximately 5,000 fans at Summerville's McKissick Field.
Gaffney (9-3) will face Dorman next week in a state semifinal. The Green Wave finished 11-2.
It was a sloppy game (nine turnovers) with some outstanding individual efforts. There were 977 total yards gained. The Indians won despite five turnovers.
Gaffney quarterback Deedward Harris completed 18-of-30 passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns, while throwing three interceptions. He also carried 20 times for 99 yards and scored two touchdowns. He had all but 50 of Gaffney's 432 total yards.
Summerville tallied 545 yards in total offense. Sophomore quarterback Dalton Saunders completed 16-of-36 passes for 333 yards and four scores. But he threw three of his four interceptions in the second half. De'angelo Henderson carried 21 times for 189 yards. He had two touchdown receptions.
CLASS 4A DIVISION II
Goose Creek 35, North Augusta 21
At Goose Creek, the Gators scored three touchdowns in the final 50 seconds to secure the victory against the Yellow Jackets and go 10-3 - the best record in the school's history.
Virgil Smalls had 16 carries for 146 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Gators, who advanced to the third round of the playoffs, where they will play at Berkeley.
Ranoy Hines added 22 carries to the Gators' efforts, tallying 122 yards and one touchdown.
North Augusta fell to 11-2, ending their playoff run.

Berkeley 13, Greenwood 9
At Monck's Corner, Berkeley's Evan MacKelvey picked off a D.J. Dunlap bomb late in the fourth quarter to clinch the win.
MacKelvey's pick was one of two interceptions for the Stags, the other by Rakheem White squelching a Greenwood drive late in the first half.
MacKelvey's pick came on the heels of a 41-yard Bruce Ellington touchdown run to give the Stags their first lead of the night. The high-octane Berkeley offense that came into the game averaging more than 40 points a game could do little against a stingy Greenwood defense.
After allowing a first-drive touchdown that put the Eagles up 7-0, the Stags' defense knuckled down on three red zone drives, denying two fourth-and-goal stuffs and picking off two key interceptions to shut the Eagles out the rest of the way.
Northwestern 42, Hartsville 9
At Rock Hill, Northwestern junior quarterback Justin Worley threw to eight receivers, connecting on five touchdown passes to three targets and finished with 32 completions on 42 attempts for 353 yards.
Junior wide receiver Robert Joseph added to his record-breaking year with 13 catches for 170 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
South Pointe 42, James Island 0
At Rock Hill, South Pointe (10-3) used a good combination of plays from scrimmage, opportunities set up by its defense, and long plays as the Stallions dominated James Island (2-9).
The Stallions jumped ahead 21-0 after one quarter and led 35-0 at halftime. The defending Class 4A Division II state champions have outscored opponents 81-0 in two playoff games.
CLASS 3A
Myrtle Beach 55, North Charleston 13
Myrtle Beach junior quarterback Everett Golson threw eight touchdown passes to lead the defending champion Seahawks in their Class 3A third-round playoff win.
Golson, who completed 27-of-36 passes for 444 yards for career highs in both yardage and touchdowns.
Golson completed all three passes on the Seahawks' opening possession and capped the drive with a 20-yard TD pass to Dallas Goodman.
After the Cougars (11-2) fumbled the ensuing kickoff, Golson went up top again to Goodman for a 33-yard score on the first play. The early line on Golson in the first minute of play: 4 -of-4 for 101 yards and two touchdowns and a 14-0 lead that was never threatened.
Daniel 14, Greenville 7
At Greenville's Sirrine Stadium, Deandre Hopkins' 78-yard punt return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter was the difference for the Lions (13-0).
CLASS 2A
Central 14, Strom Thurmond 9
At Pageland, Kegan Funderburk led the Eagles in a defense-heavy game with nine tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery. Darius Gladden added eight tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery for Central, which held the Rebels (10-3) to 141 total offensive yards.
Central (11-2) will play Abbeville in the Class 2A Upper State final Friday.

At Manning, Brandon Miller's 61-yard pass to Michael Keels with 21 seconds left delivered the win for the Monarchs (10-3).
Marcos Pearson led the Monarch rushing effort with 23 carries for 105 yards and a touchdown. Dayshawn Dixon added nine carries for 87 yards and a touchdown.
For the Braves (8-5), Chad Wilkes had 15 carries for 92 yards. Sammy Merriman had 15 carries for 42 yards and two touchdowns.
Manning advances to the Class 2A Lower State final Friday at Dillon.

At Summerton, Quinton Singleton's 13-yard run with 48 seconds left lifted the Eagles past the Wild Gators and into the Class A Division II final.
Singleton led the defending champion Eagles (7-5) with 33 carries for 256 yards and four touchdowns. Scott's Branch had 348 total yards.
Quarterback Terrell Adams had six tackles, four assists, two interceptions and a fumble recovery. Everett Rendell added to the defensive effort with six solo tackles and eight assists.

Quarterback Gator Garrick was 6-of-12 passing for 141 yards while Dexter Staley had four receptions for 138 yards for Williston-Elko.
Ware Shoals' Nick Davis had 14 carries for 231 yards. Anton Williams had 12 carries for 95 yards.
