HEALTH CARE

Jay Bikofsky, managing director of Hagedorn & Co., has been re-elected chairman of the boards of Palmetto Hospital Trust, PHT Services, Ltd. and Palmetto Healthcare Liability Insurance Program for 2010. Other officers of the three boards are: vice chair, Philip A. Clayton, president of Conway Medical Center; secretary, Norman G. Rentz, president of Cannon Memorial Hospital; and members-at-large, John A. Miller Jr., president of AnMed Health, and James A. Pfeiffer, president of Self Regional Healthcare.

INSURANCE

Dan R. Carmichael has been appointed to the board of EagleEye Analytics, a predictive analytics provider to property and casualty insurers. Carmichael is board chairman of Platinum Underwriters Holdings, a Bermuda holding company for property and casualty reinsurance companies.

Allstate Insurance Co. has recognized agency owner Roger Herring of Lexington with the Chairman's Conference award for high standards in customer satisfaction, customer retention and profitable business growth.

LAW

Gray T. Culbreath of Collins & Lacy has been elected president-elect of the S.C. Defense Trial Attorneys Association.

John E. Cuttino of Turner Padget Graham & Laney has been inducted into the Litigation Counsel of America.

Sterling G. Davies of McAngus Goudelock & Courie has been elected secretary of the S.C. Defense Trial Attorneys Association.

Caleb Martin Riser has joined Richardson Plowden & Robinson as an attorney in the construction law practice group. He served as a law clerk for the firm and as an intern architect and project manager for TVS-Design.

George A. Scott Jr. has joined Nexsen Pruet's corporate practice group as an associate. Scott graduated this spring from The Charlotte School of Law, magna cum laude. He was a fullback for Syracuse University football team.

Stacy Elizabeth Thompson of Bluestein, Nichols, Thompson and Delgado, has been elected as a board member of the 4th & D.C. Circuits of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives.

David C. Lockwood III, senior vice president of Colliers Keenan, has been appointed board chairman of the City Center Partnership.

WEB/TECH

Two Midlands companies have received awards from SC Launch's New Ideas competition:

Alala Designs, which works on post-surgical cancer clients, has earned the second place award of $1,000 in the bio-science category for Sock-On, a lower extremity compression garment device.

Quintesocial has won a second place award of $1,000 in the IT/software category for their proprietary software and network architecture which supports the next evolution of social networking tools.

Frederick E. Ducey III, will serve as Area 5 Director for U.S.Department of Agriculture Rural Development. Area 5 covers eight counties, including Kershaw, Lexington and Richland. He began with Rural Development in 1979 and most recently worked with community and cooperative business programs at its state office.
