Record rainfall and tropical storm-force winds socked South Carolina on Wednesday as a low-pressure system rolled through the state.
Daily records for rainfall were recorded in Greenville-Spartanburg (3.11 inches, topping the 3.06-inch record set in 1927), Charleston (2.75 inches, topping .70 inch in 1981) and Columbia (1.99 inches, topping 1.30 inches in 1896).
Wilmington, N.C. (2.70 inches), Augusta (2.39 inches) and Savannah (2.72 inches) also set records.
