9th Air Force general nominated for promotion

Brig. Gen. Richard A. Shook Jr., assigned to 9th Air Force headquarters at Shaw Air Force Base, has been nominated to the rank of major general.

Representing the Air Force Reserve, Shook serves as mobilization assistant to the commander of the 9th Air Force and Air Forces Central.

The 9th represents five wings with more than 350 aircraft and 24,000 active-duty and civilians, plus 18 National Guard and Reserve units. Air Forces Central conducts air operations for a 27-nation area that includes Afghanistan and Iraq.
