Blazers close Chick-fil-A stay with loss

Ridge View closed out a 0-3 showing Monday at the Chick-fil-A Classic at Richland Northeast with a 62-55 loss to Trinity Christian.

The Blazers (3-7) played the Crusaders from Fayetteville, N.C. to 30-30 draw in the second half, but could not overcome a seven-point halftime deficit. Jamaal Brantley and Jamar Gillispie led Ridge View with 10 points apiece. Brantley also had a game high nine rebounds.

Damien Steadman led Trinity Christian (8-2) with 20 points, going 2-for-2 from 3-point range and 8-for-8 at the free-throw line.

The ever-busy Blazers are off until opening the Roundball Classic tournament in Charleston on Dec. 28. RV takes on four-time defending SCISA champion Pinewood Prep at 10 a.m. in first-round play at West Ashley High.
