Charlotte Christian denies Griffins in Bracket II semifinals

Anthony Gill scored 15 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead Charlotte Christian to a 60-49 win over Fairfield Central in a winner’s bracket game on Monday at the Chick-fil-A Classic.

Gill’s only flaw was a 5-for-12 performance at the free-throw line. Akil Mitchell chipped in eight points, five boards and three assists for the 9-1 Knight, who will play for the Bracket II championship Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

The Griffins, meanwhile, was play for third place in the Bracket II field Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. Mikel Trapp led a balance FC scoring attack with 12 points, but Marquis Robinson was the headliner with a 10-point, 11-rebound outing. Anthony Craig scored 10 points for the Griffins, who dropped to 7-3.
