Dreher's Brown earns top Chick-fil-A honor

In a bracket full of talented players, Dreher High’s Chris Brown stood out at the Chick-fil-A Classic.

Brown, a 6-4 senior guard for the Blue Devils, averaged 25 points over three tournament games and was named the Classic II bracket most outstanding player Tuesday night.

Brown made 12 3-pointers in the tournament as the Blue Devils went 2-1 to place third in their bracket. He scored 22 points against Keenan, 28 points against nationally ranked Christ School (N.C.) and 25 against Fairfield Central.

Other members of the all-tournament team for the Classic II bracket were Fairfield Central’s Marquis Robinson, Norfolk (Va.) Christian’s James McAdoo, Demarcus Harrison and Tony Kimbro from Christ School (N.C.) and Charlotte Christian’s Anthony Gill, a junior who has committed to South Carolina.

Richland Northeast High's Jarred Guest was the only Midlands selection on the Classic I bracket all-tournament team.

Marcus Thornton, a 6-8 senior center from bracket champion Westlake (Ga.), was named the most outstanding player in the bracket. Thornton has signed with Clemson to play next season.

Also on the bracket all-tournament team were Rice (N.Y.)'s Kadeem Jack, Braxton Ogubueze of Vance (N.C.), Adolphus Washington of Cincinnati Taft and Jaylen Beckham from Lexington (Ky.) Catholic. -- Steve Wiseman
