Following are updates and statistics of former Columbia-area high school athletes now competing at the collegiate level:
BASEBALL
Coastal Carolina sophomore catcher Tucker Frawley (Lexington): The Chanticleers are ranked No. 16 in the Ping! Baseball preseason poll and No. 17 in the Collegiate Baseball Fabulous 40 preseason poll. CCU opens the season on Feb. 19 in the Caravelle Resort Tournament against West Virginia.
North Carolina junior first baseman Brett Thomas (A.C. Flora): The Tar Heels are ranked No. 13 in the Collegiate Baseball preseason poll. UNC's season opener is Feb. 19 at home against George Washington.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Auburn senior forward Lucas Hargrove (Richland Northeast): Recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds along with four assists and two steals in an 80-71 loss to South Carolina. Scored eight points and grabbed four rebounds in a 96-72 victory against West Georgia. Third on the 9-7 Tigers in scoring (13.3) and a team-high 7.3 rebounds. Shooting .503 percent from the field.
Mississippi Valley State junior forward Shannon Behling (Columbia High): Had nine points and six rebounds in a 76-73 win against Alabama State. Scored team-high 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 69-68 overtime loss to Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Averaging 10.6 points and team-best 5.9 rebounds for 2-13 Delta Devils.
Belmont Abbey sophomore center Kyle Phillips (White Knoll): Scored 14 points with five rebounds and three blocks in an 89-83 win against Pfeiffer. Had seven points in an 87-72 loss to Limestone. Tallied eight points and two blocks in an 82-74 loss to Mount Olive. Averaging 13.5 points and team-best 4.7 rebounds for 6-6 Crusaders.
Coker College junior guard Vatrick Thompson (White Knoll): Scored 15 points with one 3-pointer in a 72-56 loss to Queens University. Had seven points, four rebounds and four assists in a 71-64 win against St. Andrews. Averaging 14.7 points and 3.7 rebounds for 5-4 Cobras.
Florida Southern senior forward John Thompson (White Knoll): Finished with four points and 11 rebounds in a 91-88 loss to Rollins. Had nine points and four rebounds in a 70-65 win against Eckerd. Averaging 13.6 points and 8.0 rebounds for 13-1 Moccasins.
Shenandoah senior guard Kenny Robertson (Fairfield Central): Scored 17 points and made one 3-pointer in a 97-79 loss to North Carolina Wesleyan. Made a layup with 10 seconds left to put Hornets ahead 61-60 and added a free throw with one second remaining in a 62-60 win against Christopher Newport. Finished with nine points and eight rebounds. Averaging 9.1 points and 5.4 rebounds with team-high 57 assists for the 4-10 Hornets.
USC Aiken junior guard Byron Faison (Crestwood): Had 13 points, two 3-pointers, four rebounds and four assists in a 68-62 victory over Columbus State. Scored a team-high 15 points with three 3-pointers in a 78-66 win over Armstrong Atlantic. Finished with 13 points, three rebounds and three assists in a 95-80 victory over UNC-Pembroke. Tops 9-3 Pacers with 13.5 points per game.
South Carolina-Aiken sophomore guard Sterling Council (Camden): Two points and six assists against Columbus State. Six points, six rebounds and six assists against Armstrong Atlantic. Had eight and four assists against UNC-Pembroke. Averaging 6.8 points and 3.2 rebounds.
Aiken Technical College freshman guard Rickie Jackson (Lexington): Averaging 8.6 points and 2.6 rebounds with 16 3-pointers for the 5-12 Knights.
Women's Basketball
Coastal Carolina sophomore guard Olivia Irick (Keenan): Finished with nine points and one 3-pointers in a 74-68 win over Charleston Southern. Team-high 10 points and four rebounds in a 79-39 loss to High Point. Averaging 6.7 points and 2.0 rebounds with 11 3-pointers for the 10-5 Chanticleers.
College of Charleston senior center Deidra Jones (Dutch Fork): Had 13 points and six rebounds in a 57-53 victory over Georgia Southern. Scoring 9.1 points per game and grabbing team-best 7.6 rebounds for the 10-5 Cougars.
High Point junior guard Frances Fields (Sumter): Finished with nine points, five assists and five steals in a 78-67 victory over Radford. Had eight pointsand two assists in a 79-39 win over Coastal Carolina. Averaging 6.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and leading 10-6 Panthers with 68 assists.
IUPUI sophomore guard Janna Eichelberger (Airport): Four points and three assists in a 52-44 loss to Western Illinois. Had five rebounds in a 61-49 loss to Indiana-Purdue at Fort Wayne. Averaging 4.6 points and 4.5 rebounds for the 1-15 Jaguars.
Morehead State senior guard Tiffanie Stephens (Richland Northeast): Scored two points in 21 minutes of 70-60 loss to Jacksonville State. Had 15 points, three 3-pointers and eight rebounds in a 71-63 win over Tennessee Tech. Five points and three rebounds in a 61-47 victory over Tennessee State. Averaging 6.4 points and 2.4 rebounds with 24 3-pointers for 12-6 Eagles.
S.C. State freshman guard Tiara Knotts (A.C. Flora): Nine points in an 82-69 loss to Maryland-Eastern Shore. One assist in 13 minutes of 60-49 win over Savannah State. Averaging 5.0 points and 2.1 rebounds for 5-8 Bulldogs.
S.C. State sophomore guard Whitney Wiley (Spring Valley): Team-high 18 points and six rebounds against Maryland-Eastern Shore. Led Bulldogs with 17 points and added three blocks and four steals against Savannah State. Second on the team in scoring (12.6).
Wingate junior forward Erica Crumlin (Dutch Fork): Two points and four rebounds in an 81-53 win over North Greenville. Had six points and nine rebounds in a 64-59 loss to Catawba. Averaging 4.9 points and 5.0 rebounds for 8-5 Bulldogs.
Newberry College sophomore guard Keisha Henderson (Blythewood): Scored five points in a 77-59 win over Lenoir-Rhyne. One point and two assists in a 70-62 over Mars Hill. Averaging 2.1 points for 10-4 Newberry.
Maine-Machias freshman forward Alex Latimer (Brookland-Cayce): Averaging 3.4 points and 4.4 rebounds for the 7-4 Clippers.
Miami freshman Morgan Stroman (Lower Richland) was named ACC rookie of the week after she scored 14 points in a 78-70 win over Florida State.
Football
Georgia Tech senior defensive back Martin Frierson (Irmo): One tackle in the Yellow Jackets' 24-14 Orange Bowl loss to Iowa.
Georgia Tech senior linebacker Sedric Griffin (Fairfield Central): One tackle for a 1-yard loss and a fumble recovery against Iowa.
Men's Wrestling
Newberry College freshman Deral Brown (Lugoff-Elgin): Lost 3-1 to Gannon's Andrew Mlanak in the 141-pound division of the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
