Today's news video

1. What sport would like like to try that you haven't yet had the chance to and why?

Well, I tried soccer, basketball, swimming, and track before I started playing tennis, so if I had to choose a different one then it would probably have to be volleyball. I have watched some of the Heathwood girls' volleyball games at my school, and it looks like a really fun sport. They get so into the game and so focused, and I think it would be really fun to be able to play a sport where all of your teammates are on the same court with you at the same time. With tennis, it is just you and the opponent, but in volleyball it is all of your teammates working together to win.

Name one teammate that you admire and explain the trait that you appreciate the most in that person.

"The teammate that I admire the most on my tennis team is Karson Kocher. I'm not sure I have ever seen her in a bad mood! She always tells jokes to cheer up the team and never complains about anything. Anytime you are with Karson, her happy and festive nature cause everyone else in the room to be happy too. She appreciates the little things in life and can create a good situation out of anything, and this is why I admire her so much. It is so great to see that in people these days, and I am really glad that she could be a part of my team."

What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?

"In ten years, I will, hopefully, be a resident at a hopital somewhere. I plan on going to medical school after Washington and Lee, but I'm not really sure where I want to go to medical school. I really like sports medicine, so I will most likely be doing something along those lines in ten years. Maybe orthopaedic surgery will be in my future, as long as I can get through a surgery without getting sick."

What is your pre-game routine before a tennis match?

"I don't really have a specific routine that I follow before matches, but I usually stretch and sometimes jump rope when I'm not in a hurry. I also like to listen to my iPod before matches because it gets me ready to play and allows me to loosen up if I'm nervous about a tough match."

What is your least favorite class in school and how did you survive it?

"I hope my teacher doesn't read this, but my least favorite class is probably English. My favorite subject is math, and I am a logical thinker, so all of the creative writing and reading comprehension is not fun for me at all. I do really like my English teacher, though, so this is what helps me survive. We always have really good discussions during class, so I can usually get by without falling asleep."
