Don Herriott, former head of global operations for Pee Dee-based chemical giant Roche Carolina and chairman of USC’s Research Campus Foundation, will be the new head of Innovista.

Herriott will not only replace Innovista director John Parks, who resigned last year amid controversy, but will direct all of the university’s economic development efforts.

"I think he is excellent" said Miles Loadholt, chairman of the USC board of trustees. "It's an excellent choice and he is obviously well-qualified."

Today's news video

He will report directly to USC President Harris Pastides.

Innovista has struggled since its inception, firing two developers hired to build private research buildings intended to spin off companies and create jobs.
