What she did: Finished third at the state championship meet with a time of 20 minutes, 11.02 seconds
Why did you start running cross country? In eighth grade I started cross country to help me with track. I ran a lot over the summer, so it wasn't that bad once I started.
Aside from running, what is your favorite sport? I have done cheerleading since sixth grade, but I stopped that this year to focus on cross country. I figured running would be more useful in life. Well, I just liked running more.
What do you do in your free time? I like to hang out with my friends and watch movies.
What are your favorite academic subjects? Either math or science. Those are the ones I'm better at. And I'm good at Spanish. But my favorite subject is history. We are studying world history, and I loved studying China.
Will you learn Chinese? There might be an opportunity to, but I'm going to stick with Spanish, but I did learn to write my name in Chinese.
What is the best thing about being in high school? The best part has been being with my friends, running every day and there being more freedom.
What keeps you going when you are running? I tell myself, if I run really hard, I'm going to go home and eat some ice cream. I eat ice cream twice a day after races.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Cookies and cream
Who is your biggest inspiration? My coach is definitely my biggest inspiration. He's just so much fun to run with, and he's always there with me.
