National rankings are based on average by Rivals.com and Scout.com.
1. FLORIDA
NATIONAL RANK: 1
STAR OF CLASS: DE Ronald Powell, Moreno Valley, Calif.
THE BUZZ: Urban Meyer's uncertain status? Gators still landed nation's consensus top class, and, according to ESPNU, four of nation's top 10 recruits, and 11 of top 50.
2. AUBURN
NATIONAL RANK: 3.5
STAR OF CLASS: RB Michael Dyer, Little Rock, Ark.
THE BUZZ: The Tigers clearly out-punted their coverage, considering what they signed after an 8-5 season.
3. ALABAMA
NATIONAL RANK: 3.5
STAR OF CLASS: DB DeMarcus Milliner, Millbrook, Ala.
THE BUZZ: Milliner could start right away, while QB Phillip Sims could eventually start, and the rest of the class certainly includes future pros.
4. LSU
NATIONAL RANK: 7
STAR OF CLASS: ATH Spencer Ware, Cincinnati, Ohio
THE BUZZ: Tigers went out of state for Ware and other studs, but overall signed a typically deep and athletic class.
5. TENNESSEE
NATIONAL RANK: 12
STAR OF CLASS: WR Da'Rick Rogers, Calhoun, Ga.
THE BUZZ: Derek Dooley held on to most of former coach Lane Kiffin's recruits, and stole a few from other programs, including Rogers from Georgia.
6. MISSISSIPPI
NATIONAL RANK: 15.5
STAR OF CLASS: WR Vincent Sanders, Macon, Miss.
THE BUZZ: The Rebels had a good finish, ending up with a number of good athletes, including 6-foot-8 defensive end Wayne Dorsey.
7. GEORGIA
NATIONAL RANK: 18.5
STAR OF CLASS: S Alec Ogletree, Newnan, Ga.
THE BUZZ: The Bulldogs tumbled after being on the bad end of some late switches, and uncharacteristically lost a bunch of in-state kids.
8. SOUTH CAROLINA
NATIONAL RANK: 29.5
STAR OF CLASS: RB Marcus Lattimore, Duncan
THE BUZZ: It's not the most highly rated Steve Spurrier class, but it has a stud running back and six offensive linemen, filling the program's top needs.
9. MISSISSIPPI STATE
NATIONAL RANK: 38
STAR OF CLASS: OL Damien Robinson, Olive Branch, Miss.
THE BUZZ: The Bulldogs signed 19 in-state players, five from bordering states and the remaining two from Texas.
10. ARKANSAS
NATIONAL RANK: 42
STAR OF CLASS: DL Byran Jones, Junction City, Ark.
THE BUZZ: Razorbacks signed a bunch of linemen, including Jones, who on signing day was the state's top uncommitted player left.
11. KENTUCKY
NATIONAL RANK: 47.5
STAR OF CLASS: TE Alex Smith, Cincinnati
THE BUZZ: New coach Joker Phillips only signed three in-state players, compared to five from South Carolina and seven from Georgia.
12. VANDERBILT
NATIONAL RANK: 57.5
STAR OF CLASS: RB Rajaan Bennett, Powder Springs, Ga.
THE BUZZ: Still bottom of the league, but experts believe this is coach Bobby Johnson's best in nine years at Vanderbilt.
