Republican U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson and Democratic challenger Rob Miller don't face off until November, but they are raising and spending money as if the polls opened tomorrow. In 2009's last quarter, Wilson and Miller spent $835,199 combined - more than most U.S. House campaigns raised in the entire year. However, South Carolina has received just a small share of this spending bonanza, as the two candidates spread their campaign largesse around the country. And, in a sign of the national interest their contest has generated since Wilson yelled "You lie!" at President Barack Obama last fall, most large contributions to both candidates are from outside South Carolina.
