The U.S. Capitol was blanketed in snow last week, and U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, R-Greenville, used the wintry weather to tweak a political opponent - former Vice President Al Gore.

DeMint tweeted: "It's going to keep snowing in DC until Al Gore cries 'uncle.'"

DeMint was referring to Gore's film, "An Inconvenient Truth," which makes the case that man has a hand in climate change, which potentially has dire ecological consequences.

Today's news video

DeMint and other conservatives, skeptical about climate change, have tried to use Washington's record snow fall to refute Gore and others who say global warming is real.

For the record, some in the climate change debate argue global warming is responsible for the snow, too. They say climate change has caused more volatile, wetter weather patterns.
