PARKING

Avoid the trouble of circling or worse, not being able to find your car in a neighborhood after the festival. Park and ride a shuttle from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. for free. The shuttles run every 20 minutes.

-Capital City Stadium on Assembly Street. The first 500 who ride will get a coupon for $4 off gate admission, and you will be able to bypass gate lines.

-Park Street behind the Koger Center.

-Hand Middle School on King Street.

GET TO THE GREEN

The Get to the Green 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk starts at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, with race-day registration from 7 to 8 a.m. at the starting line on Blossom Street. All participants in the largest road race in the Midlands get free entry into the festival. The walk and race costs $30 to $40.

ST. PAT'S PARADE

The musical mile will be from Dreher High School of Five Points. Bring a bag to collect treats tossed from floats. The parade starts at 10 a.m. Saturday.

CHILDREN'S CARNIVAL

The Wachovia Children's Carnival, in Martin Luther King Jr. Park, will feature treats, a petting zoo, magic, karaoke, face painting and a fitness playground. The carnival will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

GETTING COMFORTABLE

It's not the place to go if your feet hurt, but if you're feeling lightheaded, visit the South Carolina Hospital Association Comfort Zone near the Five Points Fountain for fruit, water, juice, Band-Aids, diapers and other items.

BEER DRINKING

There are a few new additions:

-Plastic cups aren't being used. Beer will be dispensed into steins.

-The steins will hold 22 ounces. The cups held 16 ounces.

-The first beer stein is $4. Each time you refill the stein, you'll pay $3.

-There's a beer garden for those who like specialty brews. There are no refill deals on the garden beers.

GETTING HOME

If you're stumbling, get a ride from your Bud. Budweiser of Columbia and Checker-Yellow will pay the first $10 of your fare. Cabs will be waiting at Blossom Street (near Wachovia), Greene Street (near The Inn at Claussen's) and Devine Street (near Subway). Two hundred rides were provided last year.

Shallow Palace, 12:10 p.m.: The good side of the line between indie and modern rock.

Deepfield, 1:10 p.m.: Modern rock without the radio-laced drivel.

Villanova, 2:20 p.m.: The fusion of rock, funk and hip-hop.

Saosin, 3:30 p.m.: The good (looking) cheek of mall punk.

Jet, 4:45 p.m.: "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" is the hit that keeps propelling this Jet.

DIRECT AUTO/FREE TIMES STAGE

Battle of the Bands' Winner, noon: And the winner is ...

Sequoyah Prep School, 12:40 p.m.: This piano-pop and Southern rock should have a later slot.

John Satterfield, 1:30 p.m.: Satterfield's new look band is more rock than bluegrass.

Josh Roberts and the Hinges, 2:20 p.m.: Prepare for the annual rock stage shredding by arguably the best band in town.

Patrick Davis, 3:30 p.m.: The Camden native hasn't lost his Carolina touch writing in Nashville.

Robert Earl Keen, 4:45 p.m.: Keen is a country music outlier. Click here to read our piece on Keen, who played the Newberry Opera House in November.

FIVE POINTS STAGE

The Skelligs, Noon: Traditional Celtic music.

Foxy Shazam, 1 p.m.: Spin magazine likes this band. Spin, apparently, likes songs that sound like fight anthems - or show tunes.

Ballyhoo, 2 p.m.: Rock, palm trees, DJ scratches and fond memories of 311.

The Movement, 3:15 p.m.: Reggae vibin' with rock and (some) hip-hop.

Perpetual Groove, 4:30 p.m.: Southern jam rock with let's-get-down-appeal.

FOUNTAIN STAGE

Celtic Blue, 12:40 p.m.: Celtic and blues mix.

Long Miles, 1:50 p.m.: Rock, blue-eyed reggae and hat-backwards jamming.

Dangermuffin, 3 p.m.: Americana and roots music trio.

Justin Smith and Folk Hop Band, 4:15 p.m.: Smith and his band can play rock music with an edge, but it excels when it slows down and lets the voices soar.
