The S.C. Club for Growth has endorsed the Republican gubernatorial bid of Lexington Rep. Nikki Haley. Club chairman Chad Walldorf said Haley bets fits the group�s belief in limited government and free market principles.

�We have seen Representative Haley�s incredible work in the South Carolina Legislature and are thrilled to have a candidate with her track record running for our state�s top office,� Walldorf said in a statement. �As our governor, Nikki Haley will continue to make South Carolina more business friendly, protect our hard-earned tax dollars, and perhaps most importantly, shine a light on the darkest corners of state bureaucracy.�

Haley is one of four candidates seeking the nomination, including U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett, Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer and Attorney General Henry McMaster.

The S.C. Club for Growth has been a key ally of Gov. Mark Sanford, and the group has been a potent force in raising money and buying television ads and mail to defeat candidates whose politics and policies they disagreed with.

What are some of the features of Disqus commenting?

You can select how comment threads are organized. Some people prefer to read the newest comments first, while others prefer to read the oldest comments first. Others prefer to sort on comments that have the best rating (highest number of "likes") or are the most popular now (highest number of "likes" and replies). The choice will be yours. You can lock in your personal preference by selecting from among the options presented in the "Sort by" drop down menu that appears above the comments you are reading.
