Richland County Sheriff’s deputies reported no progress Sunday in the Friday night shooting incident on Woodfield Drive that left two men dead.

But Richland County Coroner Gary Watts formally identified the second dead man as Edgar Lopez, of 1901 Woodland Dr.

Earlier, Watts had identified the first man as Pablo Guzman-Gutierrez.

Both died at the scene from “multiple gunshot wounds,” Watts said. Both were in their 20s or 30s, he said.

Sheriff’s investigators were using interpreters and Spanish-speaking officers to talk to potential witnesses to the shooting, Watts said.

Lopez is believed to be from Mexico, and Guzman-Gutierrez is from the Dominican Republic, Watts said.

The gunman who is believed to have shot the two men fled the scene.

The shooting took place in a yard and the motive is unknown, Watts said.

“It looks like they were out there just socializing when this happened,” Watts said.

Woodfield Drive is in a residential neighborhood on the west side of I-77 about a mile from where I-77 intersects with I-20.
