A number of Midlands runners turned in outstanding performances in the girls Championship Division race at the annual Coaches Classic meet on Saturday at Sandhills Research Park.
Nine Midlands entries finished in the top 16 with A.C. Flora eighth-grader Maryann Riley leading the way with a third-place finish and a time of 19 minutes, 34 seconds.
Airport sophomore Megan Stahlberger (5th, 20:02), Dreher freshman Ashbrook Gwinn (6th, 20:13), Dutch Fork sophomore Amelia Syfert (10th, 20:24), Heathwood Halls Brooke Grice (12th, 20:30) and Sydney Ellen (14th, 20:46), Pelion sophomore Nevada Minard (15th, 20:48) and Spring Valley senior Emily Bakaj (16th, 20:53) also turned in high-end performances.
