A year ago, Lexingtons boys cross country team planted a seed of doubt in the collective heads of No. 1 Ridge View at the lass 4A Mid-State qualifying meet. The following weekend, the Wildcats completely dominated the Blazers on the way to the programs first state championship.
The defending state champions put the heat on top-ranked Ridge View again at the Mid-State event at Sandhills Research Center, edging the Blazers, 48-51, for the team championship to set up yet another intriguing scenario at next weekends season finale on the same course.
Colby Coulter headlined the Wildcats winning lineup with a third-place finish and a time of 16:03.95. The Lexington front runner had plenty of support from Tony Morales (4th, 16:08.35), Jay Lloyd (10th, 16:34.30), Blake White (15th, 16:48.85) and Zach Trim (16th, 16:50.30).
