Tim Dudley’s championship performance at 189 pounds was the highlight for the Irmo wrestling team at last weekend’s Beef O’Bradys tournament in Fort Mill.

Dudley, who won the Class 4A 171-pound state championship last season, went 6-0 overall on the way to first place in his weight class. He was one of five Yellow Jackets to place at the event. Irmo finished in fifth place in the team standings with 145 points.

Dudley was the only Jacket to reach the championship finals, but Louis Biles, Bobby Modzel and Brandon Corley all emerged with consolation titles. Corley had the best record of the day other than Dudley, going 5-1 on the way to third place at 160. Biles was 3-2 at 103, and Modzel finished 5-3 at 152.

Mylos Gardner turned in a 5-2 report card at heavyweight, good for fourth place.
