Morales, Meager win in Fort Mill

Lexington standout Alex Morales is now 2-for-2 at individual wrestling tournaments this season after winning 171-pound honors last weekend at the Beef O’Bradys event in Fort Mill.

Morales opened the season with a successful title run at the Palmetto State Classic.

This time, the Wildcats senior star need a 6-0 performance to claim top honors at the large, two-pool gathering. Morales was 4-0 in pool matches, 2-0 in the championship round with both win coming by fall.

The Wildcats had a strong showing as a team, edging out Fort Mill and Eastside with second place behind champion Mooresville (NC). Lexington rang up 157 team points, 1.5 points better than Fort Mill and Eastside.

Nate Meager and Jackson Meyers joined Morales in the championship finals. Meager was the winner at 215 pounds. Meyers was the runner-up at 103. Meager finished with a 4-0 record, while Meyers finished 3-2 overall.

Russell Taylor (3rd place at 119, 3-2 record), Cody Bonham (4th at 125, 2-3) and Zach Heap (4th at 140, 3-3) were the other Wildcat place finishers.
