School districts ‘forgiven’ 2011 snow days

February 22, 2011

Editor's Note: Due to tremendous attention this three-year-old story is getting, we are adding an editor's note to remind readers this happened in 2011, when there were a number of missed school days across the state due to winter weather.

By law, each SC school district must designate three snow make-up days each year in the event that days are missed. If more than three are missed, forgiveness can be requested.

Original story S.C. House lawmakers have given key approval to a resolution that relieves school districts of having to make up up to five missed schools days because of snow.

However, school districts still can choose to make up some or all of the snow days.

The bill already has passed the Senate.

After one more vote, the bill heads to Gov. Nikki Haley's desk for approval.
