A Shaw Air Force Base general has been nominated for promotion and reassignment.

Air Force Maj. Gen. Stephen L. Hoog, who has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general, will become commander of the U.S. Pacific Command’s Alaskan Command, commander of the 11th Air Force and the Alaskan North American Defense Region, headquartered at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska.

Hoog currently is commander of the Ninth Air Force’s Air Combat Command, based at Shaw.
