A space heater is being blamed for causing about $45,000 in damage to a Swansea home Thursday afternoon.
Lexington County Fire Service firefighters were called to the single-story home at 230 Mill Street around 12:30 p.m., the fire service said. The home was on fire in the left corner and roof, but that was under control in about 15 minutes.
Residents in the home were able to get out safely, the fire service said. There were no injuries. Investigators say the fire started in a bedroom near a space heater.
