Shaw jets flying length of SC coast to honor America

July 4, 2011

Four fighter jets zipped along the length of the South Carolina coast today to honor America on Independence Day.

The F-16 Vipers from the 77th Fighter Squadron of the 20th Fighter Wing started at the North Carolina state line near Myrtle Beach at 1 p.m. and flew south along the entire South Carolina coast. Organizers say the flight took about 20 minutes.

The jets for what is called the “Salute from the Shore” are from Shaw Air Force Base.
