Solicitor watching handling of Ard case

As State Attorney General Alan Wilson reviews the ethics case against Lt. Gov. Ken Ard, 5th Circuit Solicitor Dan Johnson said he is “monitoring what the AG’s office does very closely.”

The State Ethics Commission fined Ard $48,400 for 107 violations of the State Ethics Act. Wilson is reviewing the case “to determine what, if any, prosecutorial action is warranted.”

Wednesday, State Democratic Party chairman and former 5th Circuit Solicitor Dick Harpootlian said “if the Attorney General passes on it (maybe) Dan Johnson will take a look at it.
