New data for tens of thousands of state employees and thousands of local public employees have been uploaded to our salary databases.
The new state data is from the SC Budget and Control Board, which manages the payroll for dozens of state agencies, and 16 additional entities which report their data separately. Local data comes from Midlands municipalities, counties and school districts.
The data is available under the state Freedom of Information Act, bolstered by state government's transparency initiative. State law allows release of names, titles and annualized salaries for state employees who make $50,000 or more. Our latest statewide update resulted in a database of 19,679 entries. The local database has 5,601 entries.
