The city of Sumter’s third annual military appreciation picnic will be held at Shaw Air Force Base on Thursday, hosted by the Sumter Chamber of Commerce.

The picnic will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday at Hangar 1200. All uniformed military personnel working at Shaw are welcome.

The burgers and hot dogs are intended to thank Shaw’s military members for their contributions to the community, according to the chamber.

Organizers anticipate feeding about 1,800 of Shaw’s airmen.
