KERSHAW COUNTY: Students in Sharon White’s second block World History class at Lugoff-Elgin High concluded their study of the Enlightenment Period by attending White’s Chocolate House. Students began the project in the library media center researching a specific topic from the 1700s. Each student created a newspaper with their topics being the focus of the front page. For the back page, students wrote advertisements for newly developed products. During the chocolate house, students shared information with each other to create five new articles for the inside of their papers. Kelli Murphy, sophomore, noted, ”I had a great time getting and sharing info with my peers. I went out of my way to complete my outfit, and even wore my mom’s shoes, which were way too tight for my feet.” Shown, from left, are proprietor Sharon White, Katherine Morse, Anna Hogue, Destiny Greene, Kelli Murphy, Lorraine Russell, Carson McCallum, Kailey Jowers, Taylor Evans, Whitney Clendening, Brittany Kelly, Julia Moye, Alexis Ledwell, Lauren Ramold; back row, Matt Malaga, Josh Willits, Dallas Guerrero, Helen Murray, Ben Blankenship, Gage Chenevey, Eric Carlson.
