Motorcyclist killed; woman charged with felony DUI

A Kershaw County woman has been charged with felony DUI after the van she was driving struck and killed a motorcyclist on S.C. 341 Friday night.

Michelle Anthony, 30, was pulling out of a private driveway in Kershaw County around 10:56 p.m. Friday when she struck a motorcyclist driving south on S.C. 341, said Cpl. Bob Beres with the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Michael Gaskins, 49, of Cassatt, died at the scene, said Kershaw County coroner Johnny Fellers. Gaskins was not wearing a helmet.

Anthony and four of the six passengers in the van were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Anthony has been charged with felony DUI, child endangerment, driving under suspension and failure to restrain a child.

The accident is under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
