My brother is running for president

January 8, 2012

Dan Santorum runs a professional association of tennis coaches out of Hilton Head Island, but no one wants to about their backhands these days.

Reporters want to know what is was like growing up with his brother, Rick Santorum.

"It's kind of surreal, I mean, there's not too many people that can say their brother is running for president of the United States," Dan Santorum told The (Hilton Head) Island Packet.

Dan says they shared a room and were constantly trying to outdo each other. Rick Santorum surprised everyone when he announced in the ninth grade that he planned to become governor of Pennsylvania.

And their father read them, "The Little Engine That Could," on many nights, Dan told The New York Times.

“I know it might sound corny in this case, but positive thinking was a big lesson we were taught growing up,” he said.

Rick Santorum will need some of that positive thinking that got him back into the race to overcome his deficit to Mitt Romney.
