C.A. Johnsons girls basketball team is on track, now that the Region 1-3A campaign has started. The Green Hornets toppled North Central 50-41 on Tuesday to improve to 3-0 in conference play. Not bad, considering CAJ entered region play with a 2-9 record.
Deja Smith led the way against North Central with 17 points, 15 rebounds, 5 blocks, 4 assists and 2 steals. The senior guard had solid support from Andrea Moye (8 points, 16 rebounds, 3 steals), Logan Furtick (9 points, 9 steals) and Nakia Owens (9 points, 9 steals, 7 assists).
The CAJ boys (5-9, 2-1) completed the sweep with a 52-39 win in the nightcap. Peter Goodman and Michael Knox led the Hornets with 18 and Knox 10 points, respectively.
