The Columbia Police Department's bomb squad confiscated a grenade found Wednesday behind a home.

The grenade was discovered in a storage shed behind a house on Dublin Road, which is near the Dorn Veteran's Affairs Hospital on Garner's Ferry Road, said Jennifer Timmons, the police department's spokeswoman.

Police did not know the age of the grenade or whether it was U.S. military property. It will be detonated later, Timmons said.
