RICHLAND COUNTY GRANTS OFFICE will hold a free grant workshop 2-4 p.m. today in Council Chambers, 2020 Hampton St. The workshop is designed for eligible nonprofit organizations interested in applying for the Accommodations Tax and Hospitality Grants (proposals are due by 5 p.m. Feb. 24). HAMMOND SCHOOL will award $120,000 worth of scholarships as part of its Distinguished Scholars program. To qualify, students must be rising ninth-graders with an A average, in the top 10 percent of their class and test in the top 10 percent nationally; students must be nominated by a third party, be of exemplary character and possess leadership skills or have made a positive contribution to a group or cause.
