The main suspect in a Tuesday shooting death of a Richland County man has been arrested, Sheriff Leon Lott announced today.

Jabriel Singleton, 20, was arrested inside a motel room at America's Best Value Inn, 131 Veterans Road, Lott said. The address is near I-77 and Garners Ferry Road.

Tips and "solid investigative skills" led the sheriff's fugitive task force to the scene, Lott said.

Today's news video

Singleton is charged with killing Deshawn Jones and wounding another victim on Tuesday as they sat in a Suzuki SUV in Hopkins.

The surviving victim, who has not been identified, remains in critical condition at Palmetto Health Richland.

Detectives are trying to learn what prompted the shooting.
